Working in the intersection between Nordic roots, improvisation and a cinematic, ambient sound language, Tomas Raae creates music shaped by acoustic instruments, voice and live electronics. With Eline Hellerud Åsbakk he has formed Kollektivet, a project emerging from their acclaimed album …før de spredtes—a contemporary interpretation of Nordic musical heritage. The album blends newly written material with melodies ranging from the 14th to the 19th century, honouring the clarity, poetry and emotional depth found in the old songs. The cinematic ambient dimension explored on Raae’s recent releases is performed live by the duo Urban Faint, expanding this sound world into a more immersive and atmospheric experience.
